Objectives of the School:

The specific objectives of the St. Joseph College of Nursing Sciences Mbaise are to prepare nurses who:

  1. Provide competent, safe, high-quality, and culturally sensitive nurse-midwifery care to address the health needs of people from a diversity of backgrounds, experiences, family structures, and communities.
  2. Critically evaluate theories, concepts, and research findings from nursing, midwifery, and related sciences for translation into clinical practice.
  3. Effectively collaborate to manage the healthcare needs for multiple patients or specific populations.
  4. Provide compassionate patient-centered care to individuals, families and groups throughout the phases of life.
  5. Use effective communication and leadership skills in inter-professional teams to promote positive change in the health care of people, newborns, and families.
  6. Use information systems and other technologies to improve the quality and safety of health care for people and newborns.
  7. Provide effective health promotion and disease management education to promote behaviors of wellness for individuals and groups.
  8. Integrate professional, legal, and ethical standards into nursing practice.
  9. Evaluate care systems by analyzing the needs of consumers, health care policies, service delivery and health indicators to increase access to health care for all people and their families in a variety of communities.
